About the Newborn Sepsis Society

An international community of healthcare professionals united by a shared commitment to eliminating preventable neonatal deaths from sepsis.

Who We Are

The Newborn Sepsis Society (NSS) is an international professional organisation founded in 2019 by a group of neonatologists, paediatric infectious disease specialists, and researchers who recognised the urgent need for a dedicated, multidisciplinary approach to neonatal sepsis.

Today, we bring together over 2,500 members from 85 countries, representing neonatology, paediatrics, microbiology, nursing, pharmacy, epidemiology, and global health. Our members work in settings ranging from tertiary NICUs to community health centres in low-resource environments.

We believe that every newborn, regardless of where they are born, deserves timely and effective protection from sepsis. Through collaborative research, evidence-based education, and global advocacy, we are working to make this vision a reality.
