2026 Grant Programme

Applications for the 2026 cycle open June 1, 2026 and close September 30, 2026. Awards will be announced in January 2027.

Innovation Grant

For novel diagnostic tools, therapeutic approaches, or technology solutions addressing neonatal sepsis. Supports proof-of-concept and early-stage validation studies.

Diagnostics Therapeutics Technology

Clinical Research Grant

For multicentre clinical studies, randomised trials, and large cohort studies addressing key questions in neonatal sepsis management, antimicrobial stewardship, and prevention.

Clinical Trials AMS Prevention

Global Health Equity Grant

Dedicated to research improving sepsis outcomes in low- and middle-income countries. Supports implementation science, capacity building, and adapted interventions for resource-limited settings.

Early-Career Investigator Award

For investigators within 5 years of completing training. Seed funding to establish an independent research programme in neonatal infection. Includes mentorship from a senior NSS investigator.

Eligibility & Process

Key requirement: The principal investigator must be a current NSS member in good standing at the time of application and throughout the grant period.

Submit via the online portal with a 5-page research proposal, budget, CV, and institutional endorsement.

Applications Close

Deadline for all submissions. Late applications are not accepted.

Peer Review

Independent review by the NSS Research Committee with external expert reviewers. Applicants may be invited for interview.

Awards Announced

Successful applicants notified. Funding commences upon institutional agreement execution.
