Biography
Professor Eleanor Molloy, MD, PhD, is Chair of Paediatrics and Child Health at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and a consultant paediatrician and neonatologist at Children’s Health Ireland and the Coombe Hospital. Her translational research focuses on neonatal brain injury and sepsis, with particular emphasis on modulating immune responses and addressing persistent inflammatory dysfunction to improve long-term outcomes.
Professor Molloy leads a research laboratory at Trinity College Dublin investigating novel therapeutic approaches in neonatal inflammation and immunity. She serves on the council of the European Society for Paediatric Research and the Newborn Brain Society, and is a founding member of the ESPR I4 (Infection, Inflammation, Immunology and Immunization) group and the Newborn Sepsis Society. She is Associate Editor-in-Chief of Pediatric Research and has supervised over 20 MD and PhD students, with more than 350 peer-reviewed publications.
Her current interests include collaborative research initiatives focused on consensus definitions of neonatal sepsis and the development of core outcome measures.
