Biography

Dr. Johan Gyllensvärd, MD, PhD, is a consultant paediatrician and neonatologist at the Department of Pediatrics, Ryhov County Hospital, Jönköping, Sweden, and a researcher at the Institute of Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg.

His research focuses on improving newborn care through clinical research and quality improvement initiatives, with particular emphasis on neonatal sepsis and antimicrobial stewardship. His work aims to optimize antibiotic use in newborn infants while ensuring the timely diagnosis and effective management of neonatal infections.

As a member of the Steering Committee of the International Newborn Sepsis Society, Dr. Gyllensvärd is committed to advancing collaborative research and promoting evidence-based approaches to improve the care and outcomes of newborns with suspected or confirmed sepsis.
